Growth and development of AI-enabled laptop markets

Overview

HP has expanded its AI-powered computing portfolio with the introduction of the OmniBook series, designed to integrate artificial intelligence directly into user workflows. The lineup includes the OmniBook Ultra 16, targeting developers, content creators, and gamers, and the OmniBook X 14, a portable device for mainstream premium users. The OmniBook X 14 utilizes the Intel Panther Lake-H platform and an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H processor, featuring an Intel AI Boost NPU capable of up to 50 TOPS, qualifying it as a Microsoft Copilot+ PC.

HP also introduced the OmniBook 5, a 14-inch AI-capable laptop positioned for the budget-friendly segment. This device features an aluminum chassis and an OLED display with options for WUXGA or 2.5K resolution. Optimized for low power consumption via a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the OmniBook 5 can last over 16 hours on a single charge. While it excels in portability and rapid Windows startup times due to high-speed SSD storage, it is primarily intended for mobile office work; the lack of a dedicated graphics card makes it unsuitable for intensive video editing or demanding gaming. The model also features a reduction in RAM compared to previous iterations.

Furthering its AI hardware expansion, HP announced the EliteBoard G2a, an AI-powered keyboard computer designed to meet Microsoft Copilot+ PC standards. This compact, spill-resistant device utilizes AMD Ryzen AI PRO 400 series processors, with configurations offering up to 50 TOPS of AI computing power. The EliteBoard G2a supports up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and an expandable 2 TB SSD, featuring modern connectivity such as USB4 and Wi-Fi 7. In the United States, pricing starts at $3,028.
