In late July 2026, Guanajuato opened its annual Vendimias wine festival, running from 1 August to 18 October and offering enotourism experiences such as vineyard tours, wine tastings, and cultural performances across several municipalities. The event was promoted as a showcase for the state’s wine quality and a boost for local producers and tourism.

A few days later, the season of cultural celebrations continued with the Guelaguetza exhibition in Mérida and the Zacatecas International Folklore Festival. The Guelaguetza highlighted Oaxacan food, crafts, music and dance, while the Zacatecas festival featured international gastronomy, folk performances and honored local cultural figures. Both events emphasized cultural exchange and regional diversity, reinforcing Mexico’s broader effort to attract visitors through a variety of local festivals.

On 1 August, the Vendimias season began in El Durazno, marking the first of sixteen wine‑harvest festivals scheduled through 18 October in Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel de Allende, San Felipe and Silao. Officials projected about 17,100 visitors and highlighted Guanajuato’s status as the nation’s fourth‑largest wine producer, with more than 1.6 million bottles made annually across 82 viticultural projects, 27 vineyards and bodegas. The season will culminate with an International Gala of the Brussels World Competition on 29‑30 November, drawing participants from over 55 countries.

Concurrent with the wine celebrations, the “Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe! 2026” gastronomic program launched, featuring events such as the Feria del Pulque in Doctor Mora (7‑9 Aug), Luminaria en la Cocina in Valle de Santiago (9 Aug), the Feria del Mezcal y la Nieve in Comonfort (15 Aug) and the Fiesta del Vino in Dolores Hidalgo (15‑16 Aug). These festivals aim to promote the state’s culinary heritage and attract both domestic and international tourists, further strengthening regional identity and tourism revenue.
