NaxosLegge Festival 16th edition concludes
Overview
The 16th edition of the NaxosLegge festival, themed ‘Mythos. La sfida del pensiero mitico’, has concluded. Directed by Fulvia Toscano, the festival explored ancient myths and contemporary interpretations through literature, theater, poetry, art, history, and religion across Giardini Naxos, Taormina, and Catania.
Earlier in the program, the ‘Premio Promotori della Cultura’ at Lido di Naxos honored several individuals, including poet Giuseppe Conte and artist Nicola Verlato, with works by sculptor Stefania Pennacchio. The festival also featured the ‘Interpretare l’Antico’ series at the Naxos Archaeological Park, which included the presentation of the ‘DON Q’ project and Alessio Boni’s theatrical performance, ‘Katabasis’.
Additional highlights from the edition included the Italy-Greece Intersections Award presented to Fabrizio Sinisi and the ‘L’Ombra di Dioniso’ 2026 International Theater Award, awarded to Mimmo Borrelli at the University of Messina. The festival also featured a Women’s Knowledge Award involving various religious traditions and recognized the tenth anniversary of the Casa delle Donne di Ragusa. The theme for the 2027 edition has been announced as ‘A egregie cose’.
