Additionally, new research suggests that microplastics in soil can influence how vegetables absorb these chemicals; a Nanjing University study found that polyvinyl chloride (PVC) exposure can increase PFAS accumulation in pak choi shoots by up to 1.70-fold, whereas tire wear particles were found to reduce accumulation by adsorbing the chemicals.
