Romania electronic heavy‑truck toll system
Entities: TollRo · National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) · Electronic Road Toll System (STRR) · Serbian truck operators · European Road Toll Service (SETRE)
Overview
Romania's electronic distance‑based toll scheme for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes is proceeding as scheduled. CNAIR confirmed that the STRR/TollRo platform will be installed by 31 August 2026, with electronic collection of rovinieta and heavy‑goods fees beginning on 1 October 2026. Interoperability with other EU toll systems via SETRE is planned for 15 January 2027.
CNAIR reiterated its consumer‑protection warning about the unauthorised Hungarian portal evignet24.eu, operated by Enternova Kft. The site is selling Romanian roviniete at prices well above the legal rates – for example €76 for a 12‑month car vignette (legal €50), €144.5 for a freight vehicle up to 3.5 t (legal €114), and €143 for micro‑buses or caravans (legal €50). It also lists fees for vehicle categories that Romanian law does not distinguish, such as trailers. Drivers are urged to obtain rovinieta only through the official website erovinieta.ro or authorised distributors to avoid overcharges.
