Scandinavian firms extend share buy‑backs

Entities: Morgan Stanley Co. International plc · Danske Bank A/S · SJF Bank A/S · Sampo plc · STMicroelectronics N.V.

Overview

In late July 2026 Scandinavian companies continued to deploy share‑buy‑back programmes. DNB Bank confirmed a programme covering up to 1 % of its capital, authorising the repurchase of 14.4 million shares. During week 29 the bank bought 714 370 shares at an average price of NOK 295 487, spending about NOK 211 million.

FLSmidth & Co. completed a July‑mid buy‑back of 581 173 shares, at DKK 465‑475 per share, for roughly DKK 286 million, raising its treasury holdings to 6.96 % of issued capital.

Denmark’s SJF Bank and Jyske Bank reported week‑30 repurchases. SJF Bank bought 10 100 shares for DKK 4.26 million, totalling 59 800 shares (≈0.55 % of capital). Jyske Bank acquired 1 584 918 shares for DKK 918.7 million, representing about 2.72 % of its share capital. Both programmes operate under EU market‑abuse regulations and run into early 2027.

During the week of 20‑24 July 2026 Finland‑based insurer Sampo plc repurchased roughly 256 250 A‑shares across several European exchanges, part of a €350 million programme approved at its April AGM and bringing its holdings to about 0.69 % of issued capital. In the same period UK‑listed OSB Group PLC bought 14 243 ordinary shares on the London Stock Exchange and other venues at a weighted‑average price of 556 pence, with the shares to be cancelled, further illustrating a broader European trend of returning capital to shareholders.
