On August 12, the Brazilian Human Rights Commission (CDH) approved the creation of the National Alert and Notification System for Missing Persons (Sanpd). This system requires search efforts to begin immediately upon registration, regardless of the cause or time elapsed.

In late August, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, alongside federal and state forensic institutes, expanded the 4th National DNA Collection Mobilization. This initiative provides 342 locations nationwide for families to provide genetic material to strengthen the national genetic profile database. On September 4, the Public Security Commission of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies approved a bill to establish a National Protocol for Investigating Missing Children and Adolescents. The proposed legislation aims to standardize police procedures and allows for the immediate dissemination of information via cellular diffusion in cases involving risks to life or physical integrity.
