Startup Summit 2026 and Florianópolis Innovation Growth
Overview
The Startup Summit 2026 in Florianópolis, Brazil, has concluded, reinforcing the city’s position as a major Latin American hub for innovation. Organized by Sebrae and the Associação Catarinense de Tecnologia (ACATE), the event reached its target of 30,000 participants, including 10,000 in-person attendees and 20,000 online. The summit featured 2,000 startups from more than 30 countries. Significant financial commitments were announced, including R$ 1.6 million distributed via the AceleraStartup SC program and a R$ 100 million injection by Sebrae-SP into the Germina Fund. The event saw investment intentions totaling roughly R$ 395.5 million and generated an estimated direct local economic impact of R$ 36.3 million. Recent reports emphasize that the summit highlighted the rise of DeepTechs and the increasing speed of technological experimentation. Industry-specific integration was a key theme. APAS worked to bridge the gap between supermarket challenges—such as loss prevention, inventory management, and predictive pricing—and technological solutions through initiatives like the Prontz marketplace. Additionally, a technical mission by Sebrae/MS and the Mato Grosso do Sul State Government allowed regional entrepreneurs to showcase solutions and access global trends. Following the summit, Florianópolis was named Brazil’s most creative city in the 2026 Creative Cities Index by Adobe Firefly. Scoring 74.6 out of 100, it was the only city among 50 analyzed to exceed 70 points, surpassing municipalities like São Paulo and Curitiba. Mayor Topázio Neto noted that the result reflects a development model combining innovation, entrepreneurship, culture, and tourism, supported by the city’s status in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Building on this momentum, the Floripa Sustentável movement—a coalition of 50 community entities—is launching a global advertising campaign to mark its 10th anniversary. The initiative seeks to promote Florianópolis as a “strategic hub in the Southern Cone,” targeting international and domestic audiences to attract investment, tourism, and intellectual talent.
