Swedish royal summer events on Öland

Overview

In early July 2026 the Swedish king and queen opened a new exhibition and a jubilee garden at Solliden Palace on Öland to mark the king’s 80th birthday, the couple’s 50‑year marriage and the palace’s 120‑year anniversary. The royal family appeared in coordinated summer attire – Victoria in a floral ByTiMo dress, Prince Daniel in a blue jacket, Princess Estelle in a striped shirt‑dress and 10‑year‑old Prince Oscar in a light suit – and Victoria was seen caring for Oscar during the concert. The programme also featured a gala concert at the castle ruins and performances by national music stars, broadcast across Sweden.

The celebrations continued later in July, with the royal family remaining at Solliden for a private ceremony and a family concert before beginning their summer holiday. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia also spent time on Öland before cutting their vacation short to attend the Jamboree 26 scout camp in Kristianstad, where they met Swedish scouts and underscored the king’s role as honorary chairman of the World Scout Organisation.
