Overview
The United Arab Emirates is expanding its national cybersecurity and digital defense capabilities through new technological implementations and strategic partnerships. In Dubai, the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) and Microsoft launched a Zero Trust assurance dashboard to provide real-time visibility into the cybersecurity posture of government entities. Announced at GISEC Global 2026, the dashboard moves from periodic assessments to continuous monitoring of the Dubai Information Security Regulation (ISR) across 13 domains. Following a successful pilot, the system will roll out to more than 80 additional government organizations.
On a national level, the UAE Cyber Security Council has entered into strategic partnerships with Cyble and Group-IB to establish advanced early warning systems and a joint Innovation Center of Excellence. A Memorandum of Understanding with Cyble specifically aims to enhance threat intelligence and provide actionable insights into risks targeting critical infrastructure. Additionally, telecom provider du has partnered with QuantumGate to integrate post-quantum security capabilities into du Tech’s National Hypercloud, protecting sensitive data from future quantum computing risks.
The Council also continues to develop domestic infrastructure, such as the ‘Discovery Secure’ platform developed with etisalat UAE to manage cyber threat intelligence. Highlighting the efficacy of these integrated national systems, the Council recently reported that it successfully detected and countered approximately 750,000 cyberattack attempts, including AI-supported attacks, phishing, and DDoS attempts, primarily targeting the energy and education sectors.
Strengthening international ties, a UAE delegation traveled to Washington, D.C. to discuss cooperation in AI, cybersecurity, and quantum computing. Regionally, the Council and SCC Middle East are establishing a Centre of Excellence for Cyber Resilience and Trusted Technology.
