World Assemblies of God Congress in Accra

Overview

Accra, Ghana, hosted the 10th Triennial World Assemblies of God Fellowship Congress from October 14 to 16, 2026. This event marked the first time in the organization’s 115-year history that the global congress was held on the African continent.

Organizers anticipated more than 10,000 delegates from over 100 countries. While morning sessions were held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre due to logistical adjustments, evening revival rallies were held at the Accra Sports Stadium. To accommodate large crowds, organizers imported a large dome from Dubai capable of seating at least 10,000 people. Following the conclusion of the event, organizers reported that morning sessions drew over 10,000 participants daily, while evening rallies attracted more than 80,000 people over the three-day period.

President John Dramani Mahama attended the opening and closing ceremonies. In his address, he described Ghana’s religious plurality as a “national asset” and urged for mutual respect among different faith groups. He also called on religious institutions to prioritize the mentorship of young people against the pressures of digital misinformation and advocated for the increased recognition of women leaders.

Other high-profile attendees included First Lady Lordina Mahama, Rev. Dominic Yeo, and former Malawian President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, who ministered at the Global Thanksgiving Service. General Superintendent Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, who led the preparations, described the successful gathering as a historic moment for Africa.
