Overview

The expanded list includes towns such as Ayr South, Blantyre, Canvey Island, Croxteth, Exeter Central, Falkirk Central, Gateshead – Team Valley, Guildford, Harrogate, Hereford, Huddersfield, Leeds Horsforth Low Lane, Lincoln, Monmouth, Newcastle Central, Oxford, Plymouth West, St Albans, Woking and Whitby, among others. Aldi continues to solicit freehold, leasehold or long‑lease sites from landowners.

Separately, the retailer applied to convert a disused IKEA distribution centre in Blaydon, Gateshead, into a supermarket. The proposal, backed by 95 % of local respondents, would generate about 40 full‑time jobs and is awaiting council approval. These moves reinforce Aldi’s focus on expanding affordable, high‑quality food access while supporting job creation across the United Kingdom.
