BTS‑Oreo hotteok‑flavored cookie launch

Entities: Americanas · BTS · Mondelez International · Oreo

Overview

In late May 2026 Mondelez International announced a global partnership with South Korean boy band BTS to release a limited‑edition Oreo cookie flavored after hotteok, a Korean street‑food pancake. The product, featuring 13 BTS‑designed embossments and a purple‑tinted wafer, was scheduled for online sale on 1 June and retail launch on 8 June in more than 80 markets worldwide.

The partnership was highlighted again at the end of May, with remarks from a Mondelez India executive noting the cultural significance of the tie‑up and confirming it as BTS’s first global snacking collaboration.

In early June the rollout began, with stores in Singapore and Malaysia hosting activation events where fans could sample the cookie and submit digital love letters to the band. Retail distribution started on 8 June as planned.

On 11 June BTS simultaneously celebrated its 13th anniversary by releasing the previously hidden track “Come Over” on streaming platforms, linking the song to the Oreo packaging via QR codes that unlocked exclusive content.

By early July the campaign reached Brazil, where a purple‑colored biscuit was launched on 3 August as part of the worldwide rollout, accompanied by promotional activities in São Paulo and other cities.

In late July the rollout expanded to Mexico, where the Oreo & BTS biscuits hit convenience and grocery outlets on 3 August. The Mexican release offered two variants—white and beige creams in purple‑tinted wafers—each bearing the seven members’ names, the official light stick and hidden fan messages. The expansion continued the coordinated, multi‑regional launch tied to BTS’s anniversary and the hotteok‑flavored concept.
