Anguissa injury recovery and contract dispute

Overview

Napoli midfielder Frank Zambo Anguissa is nearing a return to action following a low-grade myofascial injury to his right adductor longus. Sidelined for three weeks since the match against Fiorentina, the Cameroonian player may be available as early as October 13 for the Champions League fixture against Villarreal. If he is not fit for the trip to Spain, he is expected to be ready for the match against Venezia on October 17. His recovery is considered critical for manager Massimiliano Allegri, as the squad faces a dense schedule of nine matches in approximately four weeks.

Parallel to his physical recovery, Anguissa’s professional future remains uncertain due to stalled contract negotiations. While under contract until June 2027, disputes over salary—with Anguissa seeking approximately 6 million euros per season compared to his current 3.6 million—have prevented progress between Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, and agent Maxime Nana.

Inter Milan continues to monitor the situation as part of a ‘parametro zero’ strategy to acquire high-profile talent through free transfers. Inter views Anguissa as a profile that could provide ‘much-needed physicality’ to their midfield and is also tracking other Napoli players with 2027 expirations, such as goalkeeper Alex Meret. Juventus and AC Milan also remain interested in the midfielder.
