French TV ratings and programming shifts Aug-Sept 2026
Overview
French broadcasters continued to rely on reruns and schedule adjustments through August 2026. In July, France 2 led national television audiences with a 17.0% share, surpassing TF1’s 16.3%.
During early August, reruns drove significant viewership. TF1’s broadcast of ‘Camping Paradis’ on 3 August attracted up to 2.26 million viewers. France 2 saw success with a Laurent Gerra special (1.75 million viewers) and the game show ‘Tout le monde veut prendre sa place’. France 3’s reruns of ‘Rex’ and ‘Slam’ also drew over 1 million viewers each.
Major sporting events necessitated programming shifts. To accommodate the European Athletics Championships, France 2 paused ‘Tout le monde veut prendre sa place’ from 10 to 15 August. Upon its return, the show recorded 1.43 million viewers with a 20.7% market share on 24 August.
As the end-of-summer season commenced on 31 August, networks launched new programming. In the late-afternoon talk-show slot, Cyril Hanouna’s show on W9 led with 1.18 million viewers (6.9% share), narrowly beating Yann Barthès’s ‘Quotidien’ on TMC, which averaged 1.10 million viewers (6.8% share). Barthès saw a peak of 1.51 million viewers during a segment featuring Camille Cottin. In prime-time, TF1 aired a new episode of ‘Camping Paradis’ titled ‘Coups de cœur au Paradis’, which drew approximately 3.00 million viewers, though it trailed M6’s ‘L’amour est dans le pré’. W9 also launched the tenth season of ‘Les Apprentis Aventuriers’, featuring new rules where contestants must earn pearls for food and comfort.
On 3 September, France 2’s season premiere of ‘Envoyé spécial’, hosted by Élise Lucet, saw lower viewership, drawing 883,000 viewers (5.9% market share). The program ranked fourth in its time slot, trailing TF1, France 3, and M6.
