A later press conference on July 29 added testimony that Eto had also paid roughly ¥8 million to secure a chair election, and that other senior officials received about ¥20 million for golf, meals and related expenses. Former chairman Yūgo Kurauchi alleged he was asked for large cash sums to obtain the chairmanship, reinforcing claims of extortion. The revelations prompted renewed calls from young LDP members, the prefectural governor and other lawmakers for an independent third‑party investigation, and drew attention to national figures such as Minister of Internal Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi, whose former private secretary is linked to the assembly leadership.

Prime Minister Sae Takaichi reiterated that the party must first verify the facts before deciding on any response. Assembly chair Yūo Kurauchi pledged that the investigation be completed by September. The scandal, now encompassing multiple alleged cash transfers, disputed audio evidence, and potential ties to national officials, remains a focal point of public and political pressure ahead of the 2027 local elections.
