Hanoi infrastructure and public works development

Overview

Hanoi is advancing several major infrastructure and public works initiatives. To mark National Day on September 2, the city scheduled the inauguration of 16 projects, including the technical opening of Ring Road 1 (Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section) and 10 urgent flood control and drainage projects totaling approximately 5,600 billion VND. These flood mitigation works target areas such as To Lich - Ta Nhue and Thang Long Boulevard to increase water storage capacity. Future developments include breaking ground on Ring Road 3.5 and national railway projects like the Eastern Ring Railway.

General Secretary and President Tô Lâm has conducted multiple field inspections. He emphasized the role of Ring Road 1 in reducing congestion and inspected the newly constructed Hoàng Quán Chi High School, prepared for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Construction of the ring road network is accelerating. Ring Road 2.5, a nearly 20 km route, has seen several segments become operational. To meet a technical opening goal by October 10, 2026, contractors have entered an intensive phase involving three shifts and four teams. On October 10, President Tô Lâm inspected the Ring Road 1 section, which has opened to traffic, and reviewed progress on Ring Road 2.5 and associated parking and greenery areas.

Additionally, Ring Road 4 construction is progressing, with land recovery in Hanoi reaching 800.15 hectares. At the southwest gateway, work has begun on a major two-tier interchange connecting Ring Road 4 with National Highway 6 in Yen Nghia Ward, involving the installation of large girder segments for the overpass.
