Indonesia anti-corruption prosecutions
Overview
In May 2026, businessman Kerry Adrianto Riza claimed unfair treatment after the Jakarta High Court barred a key witness in his Pertamina oil-terminal lease case. The court later upheld his conviction, imposing a 15-year sentence and Rp13.4 trillion (approximately US$850 million) in restitution for corruption involving oil-field contracts and coal procurement.
By July, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sought an eight-year and six-month sentence for former Riau governor Abdul Wahid regarding an extortion scheme involving public-works project budgets. On 29 July, the Pekanbaru Corruption Court sentenced Wahid to two years in prison, a 200 million rupiah fine, and 1.45 billion rupiah in compensation.
Other high-profile rulings included the 19 July reduction of former eFishery CEO Gibran Huzaifah’s term to six years for embezzlement and money laundering involving approximately 15 billion rupiah. In the PGN gas-trading corruption case, which caused US$15 million in state losses, the Jakarta Corruption Court issued sentences on 19 August. Former PGN director Hendi Prio Santoso received four years in prison and a 200 million rupiah fine, while former IAE commissioner Arso Sadewo Tjokrosoebroto was sentenced to 5.5 years, a 250 million rupiah fine, and a replacement sum of Rp118.5 billion.
