Jayden Oosterwolde transfer saga

In late July 2026, Crystal Palace formally notified Fenerbahçe of their intent to sign Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde, with an official bid expected soon. The club, having lost Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea, sought to bolster its defence ahead of a Europa League campaign. At the same time, Italian side AS Roma also approached the player’s representatives, and interest was reported from clubs in Spain and France, though Oosterwolde indicated he was not prioritising moves to La Liga or Ligue 1. Fenerbahçe, which signed Oosterwolde from Parma in January 2023 for €6 million, set a €25 million release clause and prepared to demand a high fee.

By early August 2026, Crystal Palace had prepared an offer of around €20 million. Fenerbahçe, facing the need to reduce its foreign‑player quota under the 10+4 rule, began weighing the transfer despite earlier statements from coach Ismail Kartal that the defender would stay. The proposed deal includes a clause that any sale above €7 million would see 30 % of the profit paid to Parma, Oosterwolde’s former club.
