Moroccan RNI party political and electoral strategy

Overview

The Moroccan National Rally of Independents (RNI) has reaffirmed its commitment to the current government’s mandate and its long-term political strategy. Initially, the RNI political bureau, led by Mohamed Chouki, stated that the cabinet under Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch would complete its term without being influenced by electoral pressures. The party defended the government’s structural reforms, including new decrees regarding medicine pricing, the integration of a national health-information system, and amendments to social support schemes.

As the party prepares for upcoming legislative elections, RNI President Mohamed Chouki has emphasized a strategy centered on presenting comprehensive political programs and competent candidates. He noted that candidates must possess the ability to translate political commitments into legislation and public policy, guided by the strategic choices of King Mohammed VI. Chouki also defended the stability of the government majority—comprising the RNI, the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), and the Istiqlal Party—dismissing reports of internal instability. To bolster its position, Chouki has conducted regional mobilization efforts, including visits to Aguelmous and Oujda.

In preparation for the 2026–2031 term, the RNI unveiled a political program centered on the concept of a ‘social state’ designed to empower citizens. Ahead of the September 23, 2026, legislative elections, the party has officially launched its campaign in the Casablanca-Settat region. During a meeting in Mediouna, political bureau member Yassine Akacha noted a turnout of over 6,000 activists. Mohammed Ghiat, another bureau member, stated the party aims to expand the reach of existing reforms, while regional coordinator Mohamed Boussaid urged voters to support the party to reinforce its current trajectory and reject populism.
