Netflix release and global success of Love Recharge
Overview
Netflix has released the new Korean romantic comedy series ‘Take Charge of My Heart’ (also referred to as ‘Love Recharge’), based on the Naver web novel ‘Charge Me Up’ by Haebeon.
The supernatural romance follows Na Bo-bae (Chae Soo-bin), an aspiring screenwriter who developed the ability to electrically shock others after being struck by lightning as a child. Baek Ho-rang (Kim Young-kwang), a wealthy hotel executive and chaebol heir, suffers from a failing artificial heart. The plot centers on a contract arrangement between the two after it is discovered that Bo-bae can touch Ho-rang without causing him harm, effectively acting as a way to manage his medical condition.
In the ten-episode drama, also titled ‘Um Choque de Amor’ (A Shock of Love) in some regions, the two enter a three-month arrangement. This deal is intended to stabilize Ho-rang’s battery-powered heart before a future surgery, while simultaneously allowing Bo-bae to experience the romantic milestones necessary for her writing.
Following its release, the series has achieved significant commercial success. According to FlixPatrol data from October 13, 2026, ‘Take Charge of My Heart’ reached the third position on Netflix’s global TV shows ranking, surpassing other recent Korean productions such as ‘Doctor X’ and ‘100 Days of Deception’. The series' popularity is attributed to its unique premise and the chemistry between the lead actors.
