NTT Docomo ahamo service restructuring and price hikes

NTT Docomo has announced a major restructuring of its online-only brand, ahamo, which includes a transition to a three-tier data structure and a price increase. In addition to the ahamo overhaul, Docomo is introducing the ‘Docomo mini2’ plan, featuring 6GB or 12GB tiers starting from 3,278 yen, and a ‘Docomo MAX 60+ Discount’ tailored for users aged 60 and older.

Broader price hikes are also scheduled for December 1 across several other service lines. Existing plans such as ‘eximo’, ‘eximo Poikatsu’, and ‘5G Gigaho’ will see monthly increases of up to 550 yen, while ‘irumo’ and ‘OCN Mobile ONE’ will also undergo varying price adjustments. The irumo plans (3GB, 6GB, and 9GB) will specifically see increases of 330 yen, while other modalities will rise by 110 yen. These adjustments are expected to affect over 30 million contracts, representing approximately 75% of the company’s total customer base. Company executives cited rising costs from inflation, labor, materials, and necessary investments in network infrastructure and 6G technology as the primary drivers for these adjustments.
