Commercial performance of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit

Overview

The Malayalam film ‘Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’, directed by Girish AD and starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, has achieved historic commercial success. Following its August 21, 2026, release, the film initially grossed over ₹60 crore worldwide within three days and reached ₹215.25 crore by its 12th day. By its 18th day, the worldwide gross reached approximately ₹273 crore, making it the second highest-grossing film in Mollywood history. However, the film faced challenges in Telugu-speaking regions, specifically Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where the Telugu version reportedly earned only around ₹2.5 crore gross in its first four days.

Despite regional struggles, the film’s momentum continued in Kerala and internationally. By mid-September, the film had surpassed the ₹300 crore worldwide gross mark. As of late September, the global box office had surpassed ₹324 crore. On October 2, 2026, the film made its digital debut on JioHotstar, offering multiple dubbed languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada.

By October 11, 2026, the film was confirmed as the highest-grossing film in the history of the Malayalam film industry. Produced with a budget of ₹25 crore, it has earned over ₹330 crore globally, representing a return of more than 13 times its production cost. Of its total global earnings, approximately ₹192.48 crore were generated from the Indian market, while ₹138.45 crore came from international markets. The film is also noted as the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of 2026.
