Tarik Muharemović Leeds career and transfer interest

Overview

Bosnian defender Tarik Muharemović joined Leeds United in a transfer from Sassuolo, reported at either 40 million euro or £34 million. Following his move, the 23-year-old discussed his career development, citing his time in the Juventus youth academy—where he played alongside legends such as Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci—and his decision to join the club based on strategic plans and discussions with manager Daniel Farke. He also addressed a controversial World Cup incident involving a collision with Folarin Balogun, noting the contact was unintentional and that he escaped serious injury.

By September, Muharemović had established himself in the starting lineup, appearing in three Premier League matches and one EFL Cup fixture during August. He was subsequently voted by fans as the club’s ‘Hero of the Month’ for August, securing 41 percent of the vote. In September, Muharemović scored his first official goal for Leeds United during a 6-3 loss against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

He was subsequently named the club’s player of the month for the second consecutive time, receiving 74 percent of the fan vote after playing every minute of Leeds’ four matches across the Premiership and EFL Cup. His statistical contributions during this period included 36 interventions, 24 clearances, 19 ball recoveries, a goal against Chelsea, and an assist against Newcastle.

His recent performances have attracted significant interest from major European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal. While his internal valuation is approximately £68 million, some analysts suggest a high-value transfer could be possible by the end of the season if Leeds fails to reach European competitions. Muharemović remains under a five-year contract running until 2031.
