Turkish student scholarship programs 2026-2027

Overview

Various Turkish institutions and organizations are preparing scholarship programs for the 2026-2027 academic year. The General Directorate of Foundations (VGM) has commenced its secondary education assistance program, with applications for primary, middle, and high school students running from October 6 to October 20, 2026. Eligible students receive 1,750 TL monthly for nine months, totaling 15,750 TL.

Following the secondary education window, the VGM opened applications for higher education scholarships on October 22, 2026, at 10:00. Associate and undergraduate students can apply electronically via the official website until October 31, 2026, at 23:59. Successful university applicants will receive 4,000 TL monthly for eight months, from October 2026 to May 2027. The VGM will verify declared information through public database systems and may request additional documentation during evaluation.

Ineligibility criteria for university students include those earning at least minimum wage, students at Police Academies or military schools, graduate students, and those exceeding their normal period of study. Authorities have issued warnings regarding fraudulent social media accounts and fake websites. The VGM clarified that it does not contact applicants via WhatsApp, nor does it request money or specific account openings, emphasizing that all official processes are managed exclusively through its website. Concurrently, the Istanbul-based ÇAYDER association has opened its own program for students from Çaykara and Dernekpazar based on financial need.
