Recent cases identified in September include a marten in Bóbrka and a fox in Marysin. The disease has been detected in wild animals, such as foxes and raccoon dogs, as well as domestic animals, including a cat. Following these outbreaks, Lubelskie Voivodeship launched an additional vaccination campaign targeting 26 municipalities along the borders with Ukraine and Belarus. This fourth regional campaign involves the manual placement of approximately 8,400 vaccine doses in areas where outbreaks were detected, specifically including the Bialski and Tomaszowski counties. Authorities, including the Polish Hunting Association, have issued strict safety protocols. The public is urged not to touch, pick up, or move the baits, as human scent can discourage foxes from consuming them. If the liquid vaccine inside the blisters makes skin contact, individuals should wash the area thoroughly with soap and water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice.
