By late August 2026, Australia’s renewable energy sector reached several new milestones. Rooftop solar installations exceeded 1 GW for the first time in a single quarter (April to June 2026), surpassing the previous record of 942 MW set in late 2023.

Frontier Energy commenced construction on the Waroona renewable energy project, which includes a 132MW solar facility and an 81.5MW/6.9-hour battery storage system. Meanwhile, Recurrent Energy’s 150MW Carwarp Energy Park near Mildura reached substantial completion ahead of schedule. This Victorian site is designed to eventually transition into a solar and battery hybrid project, utilizing existing approvals for a 120MW battery.
