Overview

The official 30-day election campaign for the 2026 general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina has commenced, running until 7:00 AM on 3 October. The Central Election Commission (CIK) has issued strict guidelines prohibiting hate speech, discrimination, the misuse of public resources, and the improper use of children for political purposes. While the CIK has defended new biometric identification and optical scanners, the Pod Lupom Coalition reported 528 irregularities during the pre-election period.

As parties launch their specific programs, economic and social pledges have become central to the discourse. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) officially began its campaign in Tuzla under the slogan ‘One state, one team’. Federal Prime Minister and SDP leader Nermin Nikšić presented an economic program for 2026–2030, proposing a minimum net salary of 1,500 KM, a minimum pension of 1,000 KM, and child allowances of up to 350 KM. Presidential candidate Denis Bećirović also addressed the assembly, focusing on his diplomatic efforts regarding the Srebrenica Resolution.

In Doboj, Draško Stanivuković, leader of the Safe Republic Movement (PSS), presented a platform centered on urban redevelopment, including new cultural facilities. His social reforms include introducing school uniforms, ensuring healthy school meals, and removing gambling establishments from school vicinities. Stanivuković further accused local authorities of obstructing the opposition by withholding services such as water and street lighting.

Other major party pledges include the Narodni front of Republika Srpska’s goal of 30,000 new jobs and the SDA’s promise of 50 billion KM in investments. Approximately 3,408,517 voters are registered to participate in these elections.
