The new series, covering denominations from €5 to €200, aims to provide enhanced anti-counterfeiting features and improved accessibility for the visually impaired, while maintaining largely consistent dimensions and basic colors.

Existing banknotes will remain valid and retain their value, continuing to circulate alongside the new series once they enter circulation. Parallel to these physical updates, the ECB is also progressing with a digital euro pilot program, scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027.
