Hull City Premier League prep & transfer drive

Entities: Sergej Jakirović · Enis Destan · Hull City Football Club · Caykur Rizespor · Abu Kamara

Overview

Hull City’s promotion to the Premier League in May 2025 triggered a €150 million season‑budget and a plan to bring in 11–12 new players, with early targets such as striker Anderson Talisca (€30 million) and Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam (£20 million). Owner Acun Ilıcalı stressed survival in the first season and a longer‑term aim of European qualification, while his media arm AF Travel announced a fan‑tour for the opening home match against Manchester United.

In June 2026 Talisca formally requested a move from Fenerbahçe and entered advanced talks with Hull; Iroegbunam remained on the club’s radar for the 2026/27 campaign. A July 2026 statement from Ilıcalı confirmed the €150 million budget and the intention to sign 11–12 newcomers. On 13 July the club appointed Okan Özkan to oversee the Premier League transition, tasking him with rapidly strengthening the squad before the season starts on 22 August. All loan players have returned, forward Ivor Pandur was sold, and goalkeeper Jack Butland has arrived. Hull are close to completing a €7 million transfer for 25‑year‑old Croatian winger Marko Pašalić from Orlando City, with additional targets including Oscar Zambrano, Swedish striker Elliot Stroud and possible deals for Toni Fruk, Rokas Pusktas and Marco Pasalic.

The squad opened its pre‑season on 24 July in Kidričevo, Slovenia, beating Turkish side Konyaspor 3‑0. Enis Destan’s cross forced an own‑goal by Ryan Giles, followed by goals from Abdülkadir Kamara and Liam Miller. Manager Sergej Jakirović hailed the win as a strong start.

On 25 July the Tigers continued preparation with another 3‑0 victory over Konyaspor at the Aluminij Sports Park and confirmed a friendly against Caykur Rizespor the following day. Oscar Zambrano impressed in midfield, signalling his potential contribution after a possible signing.
