Indonesia expands SIM Keliling service (July‑Aug 2026)

Entities: Polresta Sleman · Indonesia · SIM Keliling · Polresta Jakarta · BPKH Limited

Overview

The police‑run SIM Keliling driver‑license renewal programme continued its rapid rollout through July and August 2026. After reopening across Greater Jakarta on 30 July and adding sites in Bogor, Bekasi, Bandung and Yogyakarta province, the service moved into August with scheduled visits to Sleman, Jakarta, Bogor, Bekasi and Bandung. New venues included Mall Grand Cakung, LTC Glodok, Kampus Trilogi Kalibata, Mall Artha Gading, Mall Jambu Dua, McDonald’s Lodaya and ITC Kebon Kelapa, and weekend evening slots were introduced in Sleman under the “SIM Keliling Malam Minggu” banner.

On 1 August 2026 the Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police operated a mobile SIM Keliling unit at five locations – the lobby of Grand Cakung Mall, the main lobby of LTC Glodok, the parking area beside Universitas Trilogi Kalibata, the south lobby of Ciputra Mall and the parking area of the Pos Lapangan Banteng office. The mobile service processed only active Class A and C licences, required a copy of the e‑KTP, the original licence, a health certificate and a psychological‑test result, and charged Rp 80 000 for Class A and Rp 75 000 for Class C. Expired licences and Class B licences were excluded and directed to regular Satpas offices.

The programme still requires the original e‑KTP, current SIM licence, health certificate and psychological‑test result, and introduced privacy booths for hijab‑wearing women to record biometric facial data in line with the mandatory biometric registration that began 1 July 2026. Officials say the rolling expansion aims to cut queues, reduce travel to central offices and improve accessibility while complying with the Ministry of Communication and Digital’s biometric mandate.
