Napoli Zeballos transfer stall persists

Overview

Napoli’s pursuit of Boca Juniors winger Exequiel Zeballos remains dead‑locked. By early July the club had identified the 24‑year‑old Argentine as a priority signing and reached personal‑terms, while Boca insisted on a fee near €10 million. On 9 July Napoli prepared an offer of roughly €8‑10 million and stressed the need to free up attacking‑line space, naming potential departures such as Noa Lang.

A day later the deal was described as being in the “final stages”: Napoli’s offer of €9‑10 million and a five‑year, €1.3 million‑per‑year contract were on the table, Boca had lowered its asking price, and the player’s agent even suggested a loan‑swap involving left‑back Julian Aude. By 15 July the same €8‑10 million range was confirmed, with Boca valuing Zeballos at €8.5 million and the player having already rejected a €20 million overture from CSKA Moscow.

Negotiations remained unresolved on 18 July, the price dispute and squad‑size issue still blocking completion before the summer window closes. On 8 August Napoli announced a friendly against Celta Vigo, noting that Zeballos remains a target (also monitored by Celta) while the club also eyes a loan‑with‑option for defender Benoît Badiashile.

The transfer is therefore still stalled, pending agreement on fee and the release of roster space.
