Following a technical analysis by the General Coordination of Indicative Classification Policies, the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security increased the film’s age rating from 16 to 18. The reclassification was prompted by depictions of extreme violence, including blood, intentional death, mutilation, the exposure of a corpse, sexual content, and inappropriate language.

The release also reignited debates regarding factual accuracy. Criminal lawyer Luiz Flávio Borges D’Urso, representing the victim’s family, criticized the production for “grave errors” regarding the bullet trajectory, the victim's posture, and the weapon used. He noted that while the series is artistically competent, forensic reports indicate Marcos was crouched and shot at close range, whereas the film depicts both parties standing.
