Rangers transfers, Raskin saga, season opener
Entities: Nicolas Raskin · Dundee United Football Club · Dujon Sterling · Ivan Pandur · Lewis Ferguson
Overview
Rangers have continued to reshape the Ibrox squad ahead of the 2026‑27 season. After securing goalkeeper Ivor Pandur, manager Derek McInnes confirmed six new arrivals and said two more signings are expected before the pre‑season friendly with St‑Étienne, with a further deal likely within 48 hours of the Scottish Premiership opener against Dundee United. The focus is on adding a defender and a winger, one on a permanent basis and the other possibly on loan.
Midfielder Nicolas Raskin remains a “flight risk” after his post‑World Cup break, with interest from Real Betis, Villarreal, AS Roma and an offer above £20 million expected. Rangers have already bolstered the midfield by signing defensive midfielders Dan Neil, Vanja Dragojevic and Cammy Devlin, bringing the total new signings this summer to seven. Talks are also under way for Scotland midfielder Lewis Ferguson, valued at roughly £15.5 million.
In McInnes’s competitive debut, Rangers drew 1‑1 with Dundee United at Tannadice. Substitutes Dan Neil and Youssef Chermiti helped spark the equaliser through Thelo Aasgaard. McInnes criticised “too many little mistakes” and stressed the need for better communication and focus as the campaign progresses.
The captain’s armband remains undecided, with candidates including Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil, Lawrence Shankland, Ben Godfrey and Dujon Sterling.
