The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team from the South Kalimantan Police has identified 63 of the 80 bodies received at Bhayangkara Hospital in Banjarmasin, with 28 identified as being from East Java. PT Jasa Raharja and Jasaraharja Putera have disbursed Rp4.35 billion in compensation to 65 identified victims and their heirs. Basarnas has advised families at the port to seek accommodation or return home while victims undergo DVI processing.
Regarding the investigation, police have detained four suspects: the ship’s captain, AY, and three employees from PT Virgo Karya Shipping, identified as LBA (an agent), RH (Operational Manager), and YR (General Manager of the Surabaya branch). They face allegations of negligence or complicity under the Shipping Law and the Criminal Code. Investigators noted the probe may extend to corporate entities if evidence suggests involvement in the accident.
