Brazil Unified Health System management and regulation

Brazilian health and food security officials are addressing various regulatory and management challenges within the Unified Health System (SUS). In Alagoas, discussions between CONSEA Maceió and health surveillance authorities are focusing on food and nutritional security, environmental health, and the impacts of pesticide exposure.

Simultaneously, legal and regulatory issues within the SUS are being addressed by the Conass Technical Chamber of Sanitary Law and State Health Secretariats. These discussions cover mental health litigation, patient integration into care networks, and the regulatory landscape for medicinal cannabis.

To support these management efforts, the National Health Fund (FNS) launched InvestSUS 2.0. This new platform integrates strategic data to provide managers in states, municipalities, and the Federal District with a unified view of financial data, resource execution, and planning instruments. Adriano Massuda, Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Health, noted that the update is intended to enable more secure decision-making to improve health financing and service access.
