He expressed concern that the use of heavy machinery by the Israeli military is destroying debris without respect for the deceased or the preservation of forensic evidence necessary for legal processes. The Arab League has since welcomed the UN’s call for international investigators to be granted unrestricted access to the Gaza Strip. The League emphasized that such access is critical to facilitate the collection of evidence, identify victims—including women and children—and document potential war crimes under international law.
