Jakarta LRT Velodrome-Manggarai construction and trials

Construction of the Jakarta LRT Velodrome-Manggarai route has reached near-total completion, with recent reports indicating approximately 99 percent completion. While the official inauguration—originally slated for August 26, 2026—was postponed to allow for final evaluations regarding service refinement and facility inclusivity, the service has transitioned into a trial phase.

Initial trials began in early September with limited trips for invited guests, journalists, and community representatives. A scheduled period from September 17 to October 2, 2026, will permit registered community members to use the service for seven hours daily. This will be followed by a full public trial running from October 12 to November 30, 2026, operating 17 hours a day. These trials are designed to evaluate system integration, facilities, and human resources.

The 12.2-kilometer route, featuring 11 stations, connects North, East, and South Jakarta with an estimated travel time of 28 minutes. During this period, authorities have announced that traffic diversions previously required around the Manggarai area will be phased out to return traffic flow to normal.

As of September 10, 2026, the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route has completed its operational and service trials. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed hope that the official inauguration could take place in September 2026. PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) continues to conduct phased trials to evaluate service readiness, capacity, and passenger comfort.

As previously established, the line is expected to serve 60,000 to 80,000 passengers daily. A flat fare of Rp5,000 per trip will be maintained through October 2026. Future expansion plans include Phase 1C, a 2.4-kilometer extension from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas, estimated to cost Rp 2.7 trillion and slated to begin in 2027, potentially funded by regional bonds.
