Japan 2026 craft festivals
Entities: Akashi City · Okinawa · Craft Beer Discovery 2026 · Sanshin · Shinagawa Intercity
Overview
Japan’s summer of 2026 continues to showcase a wave of regional craft and food festivals. Tokyo will host two major craft‑beer gatherings in September – the Oedo Beer Festival at Shinagawa Intercity S&R Plaza and the Craft Beer Discovery at Tokyo Big Sight – alongside the Okinawa Craft Interaction Plaza (Sept 11‑13) at Tokigyo Hall, which will feature live sanshin demonstrations and workshops highlighting traditional Okinawan instrument making.
In August, Nandai Fuji Soba will run an Okinawa‑themed summer food fair at its 103 outlets (excluding Akihabara), offering chilled mozuku noodles and mini tuna rice sets made with ingredients sourced directly from Okinawa. Earlier in July, Akashi’s “Nomad Mart” drew over 1,000 local crafters, and in September Kitakyushu’s “Kokura Handmade Marche” will present more than 1,100 booths of handcrafted goods and workshops.
Together, these events illustrate a nationwide effort to promote local artisans, regional food specialties, and cultural heritage throughout the 2026 season.
