Sony 2026 BRAVIA True RGB and OLED rollout expands

Overview

In late July 2026, Sony unveiled its 2026 BRAVIA range featuring True RGB Mini-LED backlight technology, debuting the flagship Bravia 9 II in Germany and Thailand alongside the lower-tier Bravia 3 II. The rollout reached India via Lotus Electronics in late July, and by early August, Sony India introduced the 115-inch Bravia 9 II.

To complement its flagship LED LCD models, Sony launched the Bravia 6 OLED series as a mid-range, more accessible entry point. Available in sizes from 48 to 83 inches, these models utilize WOLED panels—likely LG Display’s WOLED SE technology—aiming for approximately 1,000 nits of brightness. The series features the MediaTek Pentonic 800 processor, four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports for gaming, and Google TV integration with Gemini AI.

By late September, Sony expanded its high-end offerings with the release of the Bravia 7 II, a more affordable True RGB LED option that provides high-quality imagery despite lacking the extreme brightness of the flagship. The Bravia 9 II remains a top contender, utilizing ‘RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro’ to control red, green, and blue LEDs individually for enhanced color accuracy. This flagship series, available from 65 to 115 inches, also features ‘Immersive Black Screen Pro’ to minimize reflections and integrates ‘Gemini for TV’ for AI-driven searching.

Other premium models include the 77-inch Bravia XR8B OLED, which supports gaming features like VRR and ALLM. In October, Sony introduced a promotional bundle for the 65-inch Bravia 9 II, offering a discount of approximately 850 euros when paired with a complete Bravia Theatre audio suite. Meanwhile, the Bravia 8 II continues to compete in the high-end market against rivals such as Samsung’s S99H QD-OLED.
