Infrastructure and urban development in Mato Grosso do Sul

Overview

Municipalities in Mato Grosso do Sul continue to advance infrastructure, urban revitalization, and social service initiatives.

In Campo Grande, urban mobility and infrastructure projects are expanding. The city council approved a R$ 11.8 million contract for asphalt paving and drainage in the Vila Nogueira and Aimoré neighborhoods. Under the ‘Vira CG Infraestrutura’ plan, the city is seeking R$ 433 million for a new phase covering 170 kilometers of drainage and paving across 35 neighborhoods. Additionally, the municipal government is increasing street repair operations, aiming for 200 tons of asphalt application per day. Housing initiatives have also seen progress through the 11th Habita CG Fair, which generated R$ 26 million in business, and the ‘Bônus Sonho de Morar’ program, which allocated R$ 9.6 million to support low-income families.

Social welfare efforts include the ‘Mutirão Todos em Ação’ in the Oliveira II neighborhood, providing over 300 free services, and the fourth edition of the Festival do Idoso (FestSuas) at the Vovó Ziza Elderly Coexistence Center. To combat food insecurity, the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) has opened registration for institutions to access fresh produce from family farming.

In Dourados, the revitalization of the 135-hectare Parque Victélio Pelegrini is halfway complete. Funded by R$ 3.03 million from the ‘Itaipu Mais que Energia’ programme, the project will introduce a walking trail, skate area, and improved lighting by the end of 2026.

In Bonito, officials continue to coordinate with Energisa and the Mato Grosso do Sul Popular Housing Agency (AGEHAB) to implement electrical networks for the Mimoso and Rio da Prata allotments and finalize 28 housing units.
