On 19 July the unrest spread to the health sector. In Tuscany, the ASL Toscana Sud‑Est authority suspended its state of agitation after employers accepted all union demands, crediting prefectural mediation and arranging follow‑up meetings with representatives of NurSind and Nursing Up. Conversely, in Taranto the FIALS union declared a fresh agitation, condemning unilateral cuts to resources and warning that department closures, longer waiting lists and greater reliance on overtime could follow. The unrest broadened further on 31 July when municipal employees in several cities prepared a walk‑out despite the mayor of Bari attempting to suspend it. Union federations (Fp Cgil, Uil Fp, Csa, Silpol) upheld the strike after a labour‑court ruling affirmed the municipality’s handling of horizontal pay‑progression issues, emphasizing that the action reflects workers’ own decisions. In response, Tuscany’s regional president Eugenio Giani unveiled a five‑point plan to revitalise the region’s industry, targeting a modest rise in manufacturing’s share of regional GDP, better utilisation of EU funds, streamlined urban‑planning rules, enhanced credit access, support for industrial districts and a new crisis‑management law.
