Turkey summer Qur'an courses and community events

The Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) launched seven‑week summer Qur'an courses in early July 2026, drawing hundreds of children and teenagers in districts such as Gaziantep’s Şehitkamil and Eskişehir’s Sivrihisar. Local religious officials highlighted the program’s role in fostering mosque activity, moral education, and summer engagement, with plans for competitions to keep students motivated.

In Manisa’s Sarigöl district, volunteers have sustained a daily breakfast service for the 35 course participants, rotating donors who provide items ranging from toast and ayran to home‑cooked dishes and ice‑cream. Imam Hatibi Ali Arslan praised the feeding effort as a reinforcement of neighbourhood unity, brotherhood and sharing, underscoring the synergy between official religious instruction and grassroots solidarity.

Building on these communal ties, six Qur'an‑course groups in Sarigöl organized a small‑sided football tournament on a carpet field. Charitable sponsors supplied sportswear, and the matches, held throughout the summer, aim to promote regular physical activity, friendship and youth brotherhood. The organizer reiterated that the tournament’s “friendship wins” ethos complements the educational programme and deepens social bonds among participants.
