The film, which was rescanned from its original 35mm print to create the high-definition digital format, is recognized for its detailed animation and its role in expanding anime’s popularity in Western markets. These coordinated releases highlight Katsuhiro Otomo’s landmark cyberpunk work, which follows the biker Kaneda and his efforts to save his friend Tetsuo amidst a national conspiracy in Neo-Tokyo.
