In late October 2026, the death of 51-year-old agricultural worker Stefano Lacirignola prompted labor unions to demand stricter inspections. This was followed by a series of fatal accidents in early November 2026, including incidents in Fabriano, Marghera, San Leucio del Sannio, Casarano, Lake Garda, Piacenza, and Novara. In November 2026, the CGIL trade union raised alarms regarding three workplace deaths in the province of Siena.
On November 5, 2026, a 44-year-old farmer, Christian Perkmann, was killed during forestry work in the Sarntal region. Local officials noted that this marks the third fatal workplace accident in the area recently. Perkmann was struck by two logs that rolled from a stack while he was working along a forest path.
