Only six of the 38 occupational groups examined recorded growth, three of them in health, with dentistry postings up 25 % and demand also rising for dental assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, operating‑room assistants, optometrists and emergency‑room staff. Seasonal summer jobs remained stable, dominated by production, retail, childcare and logistics. Analysts linked the broader slowdown to higher energy prices after the Iran conflict, prompting a revision of Germany’s 2026 GDP forecast to 0.5 % and pushing inflation to 2.9 %. Real wages turned negative despite a nominal 2.8 % increase in advertised salaries. Public debt stood at about 63 % of GDP, well below the euro‑area average.
