Overview

French agriculture continues to face a severe crisis driven by extreme drought and heatwaves. Many producers are reportedly prioritizing seasonal tasks, such as harvesting apples and chestnuts, over administrative procedures to claim assistance.

To address these challenges, the Mutualité Sociale Agricole (MSA) has launched an intensive outreach campaign involving thousands of calls, emails, and SMS messages to inform members of available psychological aid, social security contribution deferrals, and emergency funds. This follows previous government initiatives, including the €1.3 billion CASI plan and a national mental health prevention plan utilizing 12,000 ‘sentinels’ to assist farmers in distress.
