On September 25, PASOK-KINAL MP Evangelia Liakouli submitted a parliamentary question demanding action to protect farmers, noting that mandatory culling caused “unprecedented economic and productive pressure.”

By October 2, the ministry confirmed the first cycle of identification, tracing, and sampling across all Lesvos farms was complete. A second phase of inspections will now target approximately 300 farms within a 3-kilometer protection zone. Additionally, Deputy Minister Kavvadas announced that €53 million in subsidies will be distributed across Greece in October to assist farmers with feed costs following recent epizootic disease outbreaks. He noted that no new disease cases had been recorded since September 8.
