Italian regional theatre season 2026–27
Overview
The 2026–27 Italian regional theatre season continues to expand with new announcements across several municipalities. In Lonigo, the Teatro Comunale G. Verdi, under artistic director Alessandro Anderloni, will open on 7 November with the comedy ‘L’illusione coniugale’ starring Rosita Celentano, Attilio Fontana, and Stefano Artissunch. The program also includes ‘Indovina chi viene a cena’, ‘Basta un filo di rossetto’, a Dario Fo play, and various music tributes through early 2027.
In Pesaro, Teatro Rossini’s dance season, organized by the municipality and AMAT, begins 6 November with ResExtensa Dance Company’s ‘Dittico delle Radici’. The lineup features Susanna Beltrami’s ‘Il danno’, the Akram Khan Company’s ‘Chotto Desh’ on 6 February 2027, and performances by the Accademia Teatro alla Scala dance school.
In Benevento, Teatro San Marco has launched its subscription campaign for a nine-show season running from 4 December 2026 to 23 April 2027. Highlights include the national premiere of Peppe Lanzetta’s ‘Parole Stonate’, a musical adaptation of ‘Frozen’, and a tribute to Pino Daniele. In Caserta, the Teatro Comunale ‘Costantino Parravano’ is reopening under joint management with the Teatro Pubblico Campano, offering drama, jazz, and contemporary projects.
Additional regional initiatives include the Teatro Giovanni Rinaldi in Reggiolo, which will host its season at the Auditorium Fellini – Masina until January 2027, and the ‘Il Teatro senza Teatro’ project in Calabria. The latter is an itinerant initiative running through 20 August 2026, using a specialized truck to bring twenty shows to twenty different municipalities lacking traditional theaters.
