Maruti Suzuki launches turbo Brezza and updates Baleno
Overview
Maruti Suzuki completed the mid-2026 rollout of the refreshed Brezza compact SUV on 24 July, pricing the entry model at about ₹7.40 lakh ex-showroom after a company-wide price increase of up to ₹30,000 driven by higher West-Asia component costs. The facelift adds a 1.0-L BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine (110 hp, 170 Nm) alongside the 1.5-L naturally aspirated petrol and a factory-fitted S-CNG unit.
On 31 July, the automaker introduced the turbo-charged 998 cc BoosterJet version of the Brezza and previewed upcoming facelifts for the Baleno hatchback, Fronx compact crossover, and Grand Vitara midsize SUV, slated for release by year-end.
Following this preview, Maruti Suzuki launched the facelifted Baleno premium hatchback, sold through Nexa dealerships. The updated lineup features five trim levels—Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, and Alpha (O)—with introductory ex-showroom prices ranging from ₹5.99 lakh to ₹9.99 lakh. The update replaces the previous four-cylinder engine with a new 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine (Z12E), producing approximately 82-83 hp and 112 Nm of torque, available with a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Two CNG variants, the Delta and Zeta, are offered with manual transmissions.
Safety and technology upgrades include the addition of Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), featuring functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and emergency braking. Interior enhancements include a 9-inch or 10.1-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger with active cooling, a 360-degree camera, and a head-up display. Visual updates include a redesigned NEXWave front grille with 3D patterns or chrome accents, revised bumpers, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and a new ‘Enigmatic Teal’ color option. Additionally, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is expected to launch a facelifted Glanza, a re-badged version of the Baleno, in October 2026.
